THE 123V0lU710N TAP3
This tape has been a project of mine for the last couple of months. I have a deep rooted relationship with music; especially hip-hop/rap music. My personal opinion has no place here; I haven't created this tape or this article to discuss my opinions, political or otherwise so we won't go there.
I will say that I support ideas of unity, community, non-violence and protest. I can also tell you if you're looking for a non-violent rap mix for your upcoming palates session next week you may be barking up the wrong tree.
As you listen to this tape you will hear the thoughts, concerns, opinions and stories of many different people. Although I cannot say I share every single thought, concern, opinion etc. I will say that each one of these tracks was carefully selected, arranged, edited and blended to make a point.
Each song has some sort of content I felt has been overlooked, needed more exposure or simply was so thought provoking it made itself a place on this 3 hour tour. Misogynistic, violent or not- I understand that music is an expression much like poetry is; a willful use of the freedom of speech to its' fullest extent. I hope that you do too.
This tape covers issues such as: mediocrity, addiction, poverty, racism, prejudice, socioeconomic pitfalls, gentrification, police brutality, politics and revolution.
I have left the comment section open for anyone wishing to comment on the tape.
